Dr Medley is one of Australia's leading cytopathologists and has a strong interest in gynaecological pathology. She graduated from the University of Melbourne and completed her postgraduate degree at the Alfred Hospital. She was awarded a Member of the Order of Australia in 2001 for her work in cervical cytology and pathology and for the development of Pap testing, reporting and screening.
In 2004 Dr Medley won a lifetime achievement award from the International Academy of Cytology. Previous appointments include President of the Australian Society of Cytology; Director of the Victorian Cytology Service; Chairman of the Board of Management, Prince Henry’s Institute of Medical Research. Dr Medley is currently a NATA assessor and was a Consultant to the New Zealand Ministry of Health national screening unit and cervical cancer audit until the end of 2005.
