After graduating from the University of Melbourne Medical School in early 1973, Dr White was appointed Resident Medical Officer at Albury Base Hospital, NSW. In 1975, he moved to Tasmania to become an Anaesthetic Registrar at Launceston General Hospital and then from 1976-80 worked in various roles throughout Australia including Medical Registrar at Cairns Base Hospital; Alice Springs Hospital as Obstetrics RMO and in country general practice.
After settling back into Melbourne, Dr White worked as a Pathology Registrar at various Melbourne hospitals including the Preston and Northcote Community Hospital, the Repatriation General Hospital, Fairfield Infectious Diseases Hospital, and the Royal Women’s Hospital.
In 1987, he was appointed Deputy Director of Pathology at the Goulburn Valley Base Hospital. Dr White then returned to RWH as Assistant Pathologist and then in 1990, became Deputy Director of Pathology at the Preston and Northcote Community Hospital. From 1996-2003, Dr White was a Senior Pathologist at Mayne Health Dorevitch Pathology at the Albury and Wangaratta laboratories.
Dr White spent 2003 as a locum histopathologist in the UK and Ireland.
On returning to Australia in mid 2004, Dr White was appointed Pathologist at Melbourne Health, Western General Hospital, Footscray where he remained until the end of 2008.
From 1988 to 2008, Dr White was also a Clinical Associate, Senior Fellow and a Tutor at the Department of Pathology at Melbourne University.
Dr White joined Melbourne Pathology in March 2009 as a part time Histopathologist.
