The laboratory Help Desk Department, located at the Melbourne Pathology head office in Collingwood, is looking for a person with a dedication to quality, a strong customer service orientation and excellent communication skills.

This Technician position (Grade 1, Year 8) entails answering telephone enquiries from Melbourne Pathology staff and external clients, management of quality incidents and complaints plus a variety of trouble shooting and customer service tasks. The successful applicant will therefore gain knowledge of all aspects of the pathology business.

The Help Desk is currently open from 0730 – 1800 Monday to Friday and 0800 – 1600 Saturday and may operate on some public holidays.

This ongoing full time position involves working rotating shifts Monday to Friday.

The position is suitable for current Melbourne Pathology laboratory or SRA staff with knowledge and experience in the laboratory.

Qualified Medical Scientists are required to join our laboratories at Mulgrave Private Hospital (Mulgrave), Epworth Eastern Hospital (Box Hill) and Epworth Hospital (Richmond). These laboratories perform testing within the disciplines of Haematology, Immunohaematology and Chemical Pathology, servicing the needs of the hospitals 24 hours/day, 7 days per week.

Position Requirements:
- Significant experience (more than 5 years) in a diagnostic laboratory with Australian industry experience specifically Haematology and Blood Banking is essential
- The ability to work as part of a busy team and unsupervised when required
- Excellent problem solving skills
- Understanding of and commitment to OH&S
- Knowledge of quality assurance systems and scientific instrumentation/equipment.

This is a full time position (38 hrs per week) – working rotating shifts Monday –Sunday, including overnight shifts. Part time applicants will also be considered.
