After graduating with a Medical degree from Baghdad University, Iraq in 1994, Dr Aga went on to hold positions at numerous public and private hospitals throughout Iraq and the United Kingdom. Appointments included Resident Medical Officer at the Medical City Teaching Hospital, Baghdad, Senior House Officer in Accident and Emergency at Royal Halifax Infirmary, West Yorkshire, UK, and Senior House Officer in General Surgery at Fairfield General Hospital, Bury, Lancashire.

Dr Aga moved to Australia in 2005 and was appointed Registrar at Southern Health in the Accident and Emergency Training Programme. In 2007, he took up a position as Accredited Registrar in Anatomical Pathology at the Royal Women's Hospital, before working at the Alfred and Cabrini Hospitals, and the Victorian Institute of Forensic Medicine from 2008 - 2011.

Dr Aga then took up a position as Registrar at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, prior to becoming a Fellow of the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia in November 2011. Dr Aga commenced at Melbourne Pathology as a Histopathologist in early 2012 and has a special interest in prostate biopsies and gastrointestinal pathology.
