Dr Saravanan completed her Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery at the University of Queensland in 2001 and became a Fellow of Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia in 2009 as a Haematologist.

Dr Saravanan has worked as a Haematology Registrar at a number of facilities including Barwon Health, Melbourne Pathology, Royal Melbourne Hospital, Peter MacCallum and St John of God Pathology. She has a strong interest in transfusion medicine and is currently Chair of Victorian Blood User Group and a member of the National Blood Transfusion Committee.

Dr Saravanan has been a senior clinical lecturer at Deakin University since 2011, and has been instrumental in setting up a multidisciplinary haematology education program at University Hospital Geelong. She is involved in the ongoing training of local laboratory haematology registrars and has written several publications in both the International Journal of Laboratory Haematology and Pathology Journal.

Dr Saravanan joined Melbourne Pathology in October as a Haematologist and will be based at our Geelong laboratory from early 2017.
