Fast and convenient COVID-19 testing for travel in four easy steps

Melbourne Pathology performs real-time RT-PCR (COVID testing - swab) and IgM antibody screening (COVID serology testing - blood test) for international travellers at select COVID-19 travel testing collection centres in Victoria.

As border restrictions ease and travel resumes, many countries, airlines and ships may require COVID-19 testing for travellers prior to entry or service use. Testing requirements change rapidly and will vary depending on where you travel.

All travellers needing a COVID-19 test must have a pathology request form for testing.
If you present within 24 hours of your departure time we cannot guarantee that your results will be available prior to your departure (see testing and reporting window in section 1).

Note: Only asymptomatic people will be accepted for COVID testing at our travel collection centres (listed in section 3 below). Symptomatic patients should attend one of our dedicated COVID collection sites

IMPORTANT: If you order your test through Melbourne Pathology, you need to have your sample collected at one of Melbourne Pathology's collection centres. If you are departing from a different state, you can select the appropriate practice to order your test here.

Use our testing timeline calculator to determine when you need to get tested before travelling

It is essential you check with your carrier, transit and destination countries for the timeframe within which you need your COVID-19 test performed.

For example, you may be asked to have a negative COVID-19 test within 72 hours of departure. This means you cannot present for collection prior to the 72-hour window. Carriers may refuse boarding if testing was performed outside their required window.

To allow time to process your sample, you must present as soon as this window opens. If samples are collected in the red window, we can't guarantee you will receive your report in time.

Please have your sample collected within the time specified in the dark blue testing window according to the guideline of your travel service or destination country. A negative test is required usually required 48 OR 72 hours prior to departure. Ensure that you have confirmed the latest guidelines for your travel before ordering your test.
